Ukraine’s post-war rebuilding will cost $700 billion.
The president made this statement during a meeting with students.
“You and I don’t know the real amounts because we haven’t finished the war. When it is over, everything will be analyzed. In principle, the partners agree that everyone will rebuild Ukraine. That the sums are, let’s say, understandable, and they are available,” Zelenskyy said.
According to the Ukrainian president, the main recovery areas will be energy, technology, and the economy. Zelenskyy also said that he was confident that the country would be able to join NATO soon.
“NATO is for us an external defense and certainly the best guarantee of security. But I am also convinced that we will strengthen our internal defense as well. We will strengthen our security on our borders, in our cities, in our communities. There will be a very different approach to both security and construction in the future,” the president says.
The European Commission, the World Bank, the UN, and the Ukrainian government estimate that the country will need $486 billion over 10 years to rebuild.
