Zelensky invites King Charles to Ukraine for state visit

Sky News was abruptly halted for a King Charles III announcement this afternoon as the monarch met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The call came as European leaders backed a proposed meeting between Zelensky and Vladimir Putin to seek a ceasefire.

Zelensky was returning to Kyiv from talks in London with the leaders of Britain, France, and Germany on how to move forward with a settlement of the more than four-year-old war.

The Ukrainian president also stressed how much Ukraine and the UK 'need each other' in the battle against Russia.
