Romania is rapidly implementing a project to create a transport corridor between Ukraine and European Union countries, bypassing the territories of Poland and Hungary.
The new transport route is expected to connect Romanian ports with the Ukrainian border, and its completion is planned this year, according to Romanian media.
Romania is actively constructing the “Moldavian motorway”, stretching from Bucharest to the border with Ukraine. The track will run along the route: Buzeu, Fokshani, Bakeu, Roman, Pashkan, and Suceava, connecting with the Ukrainian road M19 near Ceret. The project currently employs thousands of workers and hundreds of vehicles. According to the media, the completion of construction is planned soon.
This transport route has strategic importance for Ukraine, as it opens a new European transport artery. In addition, the motorway will give Ukraine access to Romanian ports, as well as create an alternative route to the EU countries bypassing Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia. The project is funded by Romania and supported by EU funds.
