Ukraine has already used them.
This was reported by Reuters, citing sources. Ukraine has already used one of these missiles on April 17 against a Russian airfield in Crimea, which is about 165 km from the front line.
The ATACMS missiles were included in the $300 million military aid package for Ukraine that US President Joe Biden approved on March 12, a US official said on condition of anonymity. He did not specify exactly how many missiles were sent.
The official said that when making the decision, the US also took into account the fact that Moscow was shelling Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. “We warned Russia, however they resumed attacks,” he said.
Whether to send Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) with a range of up to 300 kilometers has been a topic of discussion in the Biden administration for months. The medium-range ATACMS were delivered last September.
