“We’re going to continue to provide security assistance to Ukraine on a large scale and quickly.”
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has called on US partners to transfer Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, which has repeatedly asked for more air defense systems to protect Ukrainian cities and infrastructure from Russian attacks. He made such a statement during the presentation of the defense budget-2025 in the House of Representatives of the US Congress.
“As you know, I bring together about 50 countries every month to discuss how we’re going to continue to provide security assistance to Ukraine on a large scale and quickly. Air defense has long been one of the things that we’ve emphasized over and over again. There are countries that have Patriot installations, and so we continue to engage those countries, encouraging them to provide more capabilities to Ukraine,” he said.
Austin did not name the countries in question, but it is known that Spain, Greece, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden, among others, have such systems.
