An independent OSINTdefender analyst reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have started using American weapons to strike targets on Russian territory.
The analyst drew this conclusion after examining ammunition fragments found in the Belgorod Region. He identified them as GMLRS-guided rockets launched from the M142 HIMARS system.
The OSINTdefender expert reports, “This was the first use of US-provided weapons by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Russian territory overnight. The results of this attack are still unknown, but it appears that at least 8 missiles were launched from the Kharkiv region.”
OSINTdefender studied the night footage of missiles launched from the HIMARS launcher and concluded that this was the first use of this weapon on Russian territory: “The footage shows at least eight missiles being fired from an M142 HIMARS launcher south of Volchansk, after which air alerts were sounded in Russia.”
Julian Röpke, a military observer for the German publication BILD, supports OSINTdefender’s view and adds that the Russian offensive north of Kharkiv has been completely halted for the time being. He notes that the Ukrainian army has been holding the front line steadily over the past week.
