The kingdom will transfer arms worth $1.3 billion.
The Swedish government has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, Sydsvenskan reports. The value of the package is more than $1.3 billion, making it the largest to date.
It is noted that the Kingdom will give Ukraine the ASC 890 radar surveillance and command and control aircraft, which will provide “an entirely new capability for reconnaissance and combat control against targets in the air and at sea.” It is also estimated to enhance Ukraine’s ability to engage targets in the long term.
The package includes an Rb 99 fighter jet, artillery ammunition, and resources to maintain previously transferred equipment. It is noted that the aircraft will be delivered with training and technical equipment. Sweden will also transfer the entire fleet of Pbv 302 armored personnel carriers to form new brigades of the AFU.
“As part of this package, Ukraine’s command and control capabilities will be strengthened through the donation of terminals with satellite communications subscriptions,” Swedish Defense Minister Paul Unson said.
This aid package from Sweden will be the 16th since the start of the all-out war. The Kingdom’s total support for Ukraine, including the new funds, has reached $4.1 billion.
