The Netherlands’ defense minister, Kajsa Ollongren, announced that the ministry is preparing to send six more F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
The total number of airplanes that the Netherlands promised to hand over to Ukraine has increased to 24, the minister noted.
“Ukraine’s air advantage is necessary to counter Russian aggression,” Kaisa said.
The Netherlands Ministry of Defense explained in a separate announcement that the country has ended dialogue on the sale of six F-16 fighter jets to “Draken International.” The two sides concluded that the deal would not materialize soon.
On December 22, Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced that his country had started the process of preparing the transfer of the first 18 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
