Argentina’s president, Javier Melei, plans to organize a summit of Latin American countries supporting Ukraine in resisting Russian aggression.
In an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times, President Javier Milei emphasized that he prioritizes alliances with countries that defend freedom. Among such countries, he mentioned the United States and Israel, which he visited in February, as well as Ukraine.
The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, announced his intention to organize a “summit of Latin American support” for Ukraine this year but did not disclose the details of the event. Journalists note a sharp difference between his position and the positions of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on this issue.
Last November, Milei won the second round of the presidential election. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who during the meeting invited Argentina to join the Formula World discussions.
At the end of 203, Argentina officially renounced its membership in the BRICS interstate alliance, announcing a new course of foreign policy.
