Russia continues to test Ukraine’s air defense system in an attempt to find vulnerabilities in it, analysts at the US-based Institute for the Study of War note in a new brief. Meanwhile, Ukraine is building its own industrial base to provide its air defense – but is not yet ready to “stand on its own feet”, said U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.
Under these circumstances, ISW analysts conclude, it is critical that the United States and other Western countries continue to supply Kyiv with air defense installations and missiles to them. This is the only way Ukraine will be able to protect both its civilian infrastructure and its growing military industry from Russian strikes.
