G7 Summit: Japan proposes 'POWERR Asia', strengthening oil stockpiles
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi welcomed the U.S.-Iran agreement intended to end their war in a brief meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Group of Seven summit in Evian-les-Bains, France.
During a working dinner at the three-day meeting which began in Evian, eastern France, on Monday, Takaichi also proposed a joint strategic stockpile partnership to boost critical mineral supply chains and dent China’s dominance in the sector.
During the discussion on West Asia, where she was joined by the leaders of Egypt, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, the Japanese PM highlighted the importance of free and safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and introduced 'POWERR Asia' initiative of Japan.
