Paris has announced a new military aid package

French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu said that Ukraine would receive hundreds of armored vehicles and air defense missiles.

Lecornu told The Tribune that the armament deliveries are scheduled for 2024 and early 2025. We are talking about VAB armored personnel carriers, and some of them are more than 40 years old. France has them in service, but they are going to be replaced by a new generation of armored vehicles – Griffon armored vehicles.

“To hold such a large front line, the Ukrainian army needs, for example, our frontline armored vehicles (VAB): this is key for troop mobility… This old equipment, which is still working, will be able to directly benefit Ukraine in significant quantities,” Lecornu emphasized.

France will also supply Aster 30 anti-aircraft missiles for the SAMP/T air defense system. These air defense systems are analogous to the Patriot system.

“We are also developing remote-controlled munitions in a very short time to deliver them to the Ukrainians this summer,” the French Defense Minister added.
