Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky has sacked the head of the armed forces and named his successor, after a week of high pressure from his citizens including mass protests nationwide.

A power outage is affecting consumers in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Kyiv, Odesa, Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts as of the morning of 22 July following Russian attacks on civilian energy infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Russia claimed fresh gains in the Kharkiv region, announcing the capture of Volokhovskoye and reporting strikes on Ukrainian ports, logistics infrastructure and military positions using Geran drones, FAB guided bombs and long-range strategic bombers.
