Aid workers faced record number of attacks in 2025, UN says
The date was chosen as it is the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the Canal Hotel in Baghdad – the headquarters of the UN Assistance Mission in Iraq – which killed 23 people, most of them aid workers.
