Andrei Akimov, a close associate of Vladimir Putin and longtime friend and partner of his inner circle, has led the state-controlled ‘Gazprombank’ for over 20 years.
Initially involved in dismantling the Iron Curtain and attracting Western investors to Russia, Akimov’s focus has now shifted to supporting those rebuilding it.
