Major-General of Internal Affairs Igor Trifonov was convicted in 2022. After the verdict, he was stripped of his rank and the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland” II degree.
According to the lawyer, Trifonov long sought a contract. The ex-general was eliminated at the end of 2023, but his wife learned about it only on January 2.
