He was deported from Poland because of a revoked Lithuanian residence permit. Now the man is on the neutral strip of the Belarusian-Polish border.
KGB officers are already waiting for him on the Belarusian side.
Since late 2019, Belarusian Dzmitry Smaktunovich worked as a truck driver in Europe and received a temporary residence permit in Lithuania. He periodically returned to Belarus from trips, the last time he was there in 2022. Since 2023, Dmitry lived in Bialystok with his wife, where he worked as a cab driver.
On June 11, police stopped Smaktunovich to check his documents. It turned out that his residence permit in Lithuania was canceled. According to the newspaper, the man was included in the list of unreliable citizens of Lithuania, so he had his residence permit revoked. His wife Natalia believes that such a decision was taken because he worked as a guard in prison in 2003.
His wife said that he could not return to Belarus because of his active criticism of Lukashenka’s regime. The bus drivers told Dzmitry that KGB officers were already waiting for him on the Belarusian side.
