A Russian Falcon 10B airplane crashed in a mountainous area due to technical engine problems. Russian citizens were on board. The plane, which is on the state register of civil aircraft, belonged to a private owner.
The plane was initially reported to be an Indian aircraft. However, Russian Aviation later clarified that the incident involved an aircraft registered in Russia. Contact with the plane was lost on Saturday evening, near the border with Uzbekistan. According to preliminary data, six people were on board: four crew members and two passengers.
Among the victims are passengers Anatoly and Anna Evsyukov, as well as crew members Dmitry Belyakov, Arkady Grachev, Igor Syvorotkin, and Pavel Popov. Information about this was published by Russian media Shot and 112. It is noted that Anna Evsyukova was connected to a respiratory machine before the flight due to illness in Thailand.
Reuters reports that Afghan police were alerted about the crash. The plane lost its course and crashed into a mountain on the border with Tajikistan. Just before the crash, the pilot reported about technical problems: both engines of the aircraft had collapsed.
It is the ninth accident since the beginning of the year and the eighth incident involving Russian airplanes in the last nine days. Until now, no such episodes involving airplane crashes and passenger deaths have been recorded.
