Seneca Nation calls for reversal of Trump’s ‘Lake America’ executive order

Comedian Bill Maher mocked liberals for crying foul over President Donald Trump’s decision to rename Lake Ontario, suggesting they know a thing or two about changing things to fit a political agenda.

Premier Doug Ford unveiled a large sign marking Lake Ontario in response to the U.S. president’s widely condemned renaming of the lake.

The United States has imposed new tariffs on billions of dollars' worth of Canadian goods, while Canada has pledged retaliatory measures, with Ford emerging as one of the most vocal advocates for a tough response to the Trump administration.

For some of the over two million New Yorkers who live along the shores of Lake Ontario, named for an Iroquoian word that roughly translates to “lake of shining waters,” its new name seemed like an unworthy distraction.
