Marine One pilots were warned about comms issues before ‘close call’ with Trump onboard
A commercial jet took off from Reagan National Airport while Marine One flew nearby with President Trump on board.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released a preliminary report Thursday blaming the location of a temporary Ellipse site for an incident in early August where President Trump’s Marine One (VM1) helicopter came within a mile of a passenger jet.
White House construction contributed to radio problems that let Trump helicopter come close to jet
Air traffic controllers did not hear Marine One’s three-minute warning before takeoff, so they cleared the airline plane to depart.
