Trump to declare Palestine Action a global terror group
The United States designated Palestine Action on Wednesday as a terrorist group, as US President Donald Trump's administration seeks to crack down on left-wing groups in its counterterrorism efforts.
The powers used to sanction the organisation in the US were introduced by President George W Bush shortly after the 9/11 attacks by al-Qaida on the twin towers in New York.
Palestine Action had increasingly targeted Israel-linked defense companies in Britain with a particular focus on Israel's largest defense firm Elbit Systems.
The Department of the Treasury confirmed it had "taken action" against the network, accusing it of supporting "numerous acts of terrorism since July 2020".
