Netanyahu's son Yair was target of Iranian assassination plot in Florida, has since returned to live in Israel
Claim arose amid debate over candidates' security arrangements.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Iran of attempting to assassinate one of his sons on Monday.
Netanyahu revealed the plot Monday during an interview with Israel's Channel 14 but declined to identify which of his two sons — Yair or Avner — had been targeted.
The claim came during a discussion about reports that the Shin Bet domestic security agency had declined to provide a security detail for Gadi Eisenkot, the former army chief who is running neck and neck with Netanyahu ahead of elections on October 27.
