Disney sues Trump administration over ‘retaliatory’ ABC licence review
Disney filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the Trump administration’s Federal Communications Commission alleging a violation of its First Amendment rights.
The eight stations must demonstrate they have been operating in the public interest as part of an ongoing look at Disney’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) practices.
The move from the FCC also came after the White House and President Donald Trump himself assailed ABC late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel for a joke about the first lady Melania Trump.
It comes months after the FCC launched an early renewal of a set of ABC's broadcast station licenses, citing concerns around the company's diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
