Trump demands Iran pay for ‘conflicts’
Demand comes as Tehran takes a hard line on compensation for war Trump started on February 28
United States President Donald Trump has demanded compensation from Iran for those he claimed were killed by the country after Tehran conditioned the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz on receiving war reparations from Washington.
Trump's remarks came after Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr, the outgoing secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, on Saturday listed six demands that the U.S. would need to meet before Tehran will allow the free-flow of naval navigation in the trade passage.
Tehran has firmly rejected a fresh round of American financial sanctions, asserting that the country will not yield to pressure and warning that Washington's actions diminish the likelihood of achieving a negotiated resolution to the Middle East crisis.
