Large earthquake hits western Colombia causing damage

Dramatic videos have surfaced showing the intense shaking caused by a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia's Pacific coast on Monday, sending tremors across several parts of the country.

The U.S. Geological Survey located the epicenter five kilometers east of San José del Palmar at a depth of 107 kilometers.

The epicentre was in San Jose Del Palmar, a municipality in the Choco region about 250 miles (400km) west of Colombia’s capital, Bogota, the US Geological Survey and Colombia’s counterpart reported.

Officials reported significant damage in the western region of Chocó, and videos shared by local media showed partially collapsed buildings in the major cities of Manizales, Pereira and Cali.
