Man convicted in Idaho college student killings seeks to withdraw guilty plea
In a dramatic shift from his formal admission of guilt, Bryan Kohberger has publicly declared his intention to retract his guilty plea in the 2022 slayings of four University of Idaho students.
Bryan Kohberger pleaded guilty to all counts in July 2025.
Kohberger, who pleaded guilty in July 2025 to avoid a quadruple murder trial and is currently serving four life sentences, filed a “petition for post conviction relief” Monday in the Ada County District Court in Idaho.
Mr. Kohberger had not granted an interview or made public comments before speaking with The Times.
