Maine Democrats nominate Troy Jackson as Graham Platner's replacement in key Senate race
Platner withdrew his bid earlier this month following allegations of sexual abuse.
Their exits cleared the path for Jackson to replace Graham Platner – the oysterman and marine veteran who ended his campaign amid mounting controversies that culminated in a sexual assault allegation he has denied.
Donations from nearly 25,000 supporters flooded the presumptive nominee's campaign coffers with upwards of $600,000 between Sunday and Wednesday.
The outcome of this race could prove pivotal in determining which party gains control of the Senate.
