Congo's Ebola outbreak has killed over 1,000 people
More than 1,000 people have died in the fastest-growing ever Ebola outbreak, currently spreading in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as misinformation keeps people away from health clinics and fuels attacks on healthcare.
The fatality rate of the latest Ebola virus outbreak since mid-May is far higher than in previous outbreaks.
The outbreak, caused by the Bundibugyo virus, was declared on May 15 in Ituri Province in eastern DRC before spreading to the provinces of North Kivu, South Kivu, Haut-Uele, and Tshopo.
