Ozempic maker Novo Nordisk sues US rival over ‘materially misleading’ ads
Novo Nordisk Files Deceptive Advertising Lawsuit Against Rival Eli Lilly
Ozempic drugmaker Novo Nordisk sued rival GLP-1 manufacturer Eli Lilly in federal court Tuesday, accusing the company of using “intentionally selected outdated studies” to curate allegedly misleading ad campaigns that exaggerate the efficacy of Lilly’s products.
The maker of Wegovy and Ozempic, Novo Nordisk, has launched legal action accusing its arch rival Eli Lilly of false advertising in suggesting its weight-loss drugs perform better.
Novo’s patent on semaglutide – used in diabetes drug Ozempic and weight-loss treatment Wegovy – expired in March in South Africa, paving the way for drugmakers to flood the market.
