Meta platforms hit by global outage, Facebook and Messenger down in NZ

Instagram is reportedly down for thousands of users on Sunday, July 19, with many reporting troubles with other Meta services like Facebook and Messenger.

Outage tracking website Downdetector recorded a surge in complaints, with thousands of reports coming in from different countries.

More than 4,000 people reported an issue with the social media platform this morning at approximately 8.45am.

In October 2021, a major configuration failure at Meta knocked Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger offline for nearly six hours.
