US, Iran Agree to Halt Attacks On Each Other Ahead of Talks
Supply fears grow as US-Iran tensions threaten key Hormuz shipping route
As Iran and the US exchanged strikes across the Persian Gulf over the weekend against the backdrop of a signed memorandum of understanding (MoU), the two sides have now reportedly agreed to stop attacking each other and meet in Qatar's capital on Tuesday to resolve their dispute over the Strait of Hormuz.
Under that agreement, Tehran committed to allow safe passage of commercial vessels through the strait while Washington agreed to lift its blockade of Iranian ports.
US and Iran paused hostilities for Tuesday's Qatar talks.
