Belgium beat New Zealand 5-1 to advance to World Cup knockout stage

With a scoring outburst, Belgium finished atop Group G and will face a third-place finisher on Wednesday in Seattle.

Belgium finished above Egypt on goal difference after they both finished with five points from three matches, followed by Iran on three points and New Zealand on one.

The Iranians finished third in the group and face an anxious wait to know about their knockout fate.

Coach Rudi Garcia's decision to bench Romelu Lukaku and place his trust in Leandro Trossard opened up different angles and opportunities for De Bruyne, but by the final whistle all three were on the scoresheet.
