California governor declares emergency over Los Angeles warehouse fire

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass on Saturday issued an emergency declaration in connection with an ongoing commercial fire burning in the Boyle Heights neighborhood.

Mayor Karen Bass has declared a state of emergency for the city of Los Angeles, as firefighters still struggle to contain a blaze from a cold-storage facility that continues to spew smoke across the metro area.

5.5 million N95 respirator masks, commercial-grade air purifiers for local relief centres, and advanced air quality monitoring equipment are some of the state-provided assets being funnelled into the region, The Sunday Guardian reported.

A warehouse fire in the Eastside of Los Angeles continues to burn days after ignition, with smoke spreading across the city and raising health and safety concerns for Californians.
