Judge Rejects DOJ Assurance ‘Weaponization’ Fund Is Defunct

Trump still hopes to revive $1.8B ‘weaponization fund’ and will be ‘disappointed’ if Republicans fail to approve it

A federal judge in Virginia agreed to indefinitely block the Justice Department’s “anti-weaponization” fund after previously agreeing to temporarily block any payments.

A US federal judge agreed on Friday to extend a court-ordered block on the Trump administration’s creation and operation of a $1.8bn settlement fund for compensating people who claim to be victims of a weaponized government.

The administration has dropped the idea for the $1.776 billion fund after facing harsh criticism from Democrats and some Republicans.
