Man Charged With Killing Minnesota Lawmaker Pleads Guilty to Avoid Death Penalty
The man accused of assassinating a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband in a targeted act of political violence last year has pleaded guilty as part of a deal that spares him from facing the death penalty, US media report.
The man who killed a former Minnesota House Speaker and her husband, and who seriously injured another lawmaker and his wife, agreed to a deal with federal prosecutors Thursday, ensuring he will not be put to death.
Boelter’s attorney and prosecutors did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Boelter came to their doors in the early hours of June 14, 2025, disguised as a police officer and driving a fake squad car.
