Anthony Head, Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor, dies aged 72

Most recently, Head played former Richmond FC owner Rupert Mannion, the ex-husband of Hannah Waddingham’s character Rebecca, in football comedy Ted Lasso.

He later took on a recurring role in the sketch comedy series Little Britain, portrayed King Uther Pendragon in the BBC's Merlin, and featured as former football club owner Rupert Mannion in Ted Lasso.

His death comes just six months after the death of his wife Sarah Fisher in December 2025.

He came to global fame for his role as Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, playing the mentor to Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character.
