Arne Slot sacked as Liverpool head coach

Dutch coach dismissed after brief and turbulent spell at Anfield

The Reds failed to defend their Premier League title, finishing fifth last season.

The season had started with high hopes after the club’s record summer spending of $570 million on new players following Slot’s successful first campaign.

With Slot ruthlessly dismissed, one parting gift was that the new coach will have Champions League football, with the Dutch coach able to navigate a testing finale to the campaign despite a challenge to hold onto a top-five finish, though they fell by 24 points from the peak of the title-winning season.
