FBI arrests ex-CIA official after finding $40m of gold in his home

He has been charged with criminal theft of public money in a complaint filed last week.

A former CIA official with top secret-level clearance is accused of stealing gold bars worth millions from the US government and stashing them in his home.

David J. Rush was arrested May 19 and is facing federal charges for theft of public money after allegedly swindling the government out of tens of millions of dollars while posing as a highly decorated Navy Reserve captain and Air Force test pilot.

The official, David Rush, is being held in jail while he awaits a detention hearing in the coming days on charges of stealing public money by filling out fraudulent time sheets.
