Turkey riot police use tear gas to take opposition party HQ in Ankara
Police officers intervened in a standoff at the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) headquarters on May 24 after a court ruling stripped the current leadership of its authority.
Officers used tear gas inside the CHP building in Ankara to enforce a controversial judicial decision reinstating former leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
Supporters initially attempted to resist the police by spraying them with fire extinguishers, but were quickly stopped.
Footage from the scene showed those inside shouting and throwing objects towards the entrance, and police being sprayed with hoses.
