Putin to Visit Beijing Only Days After Trump Departs, SCMP Says
Only a handful of American leaders have ever stepped beyond the centuries-old red ochre walls that separate the compound from the rest of the capital.
The age of the trees and who else has seen them — these were two questions US President Donald Trump asked, as his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping took him to the walled-off Zhongnanhai compound, a secret garden that houses key government offices.
The compound, Zhongnanhai, is a walled government headquarters where top officials from the ruling Communist Party have lived and worked since the 1950s.
The two leaders strolled through the grounds of the Zhongnanhai leadership compound ahead of their final-day meeting in Beijing.
