India Hikes Petrol, Diesel Prices for First Time in Four Years
Motorists and commuters have reacted with shock and anger after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) pushed pump prices to historic highs in its latest monthly fuel review, with some public service vehicle operators already passing on the costs to passengers.
In New Delhi, gasoline prices rose to 97.77 rupees ($1.17) a liter, while diesel climbed to 90.67 rupees ($1.09) a liter.
Fuel price hikes have triggered strong reactions from commuters and daily wage earners in Patna and other cities, as petrol prices rise by ₹3 per litre, diesel by ₹3.11 per litre, and CNG by ₹2 per kg.
