Mystery illness strikes British cruise ship – 1,700 now quarantined
The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed nine of the 11 cases.
Three people from the ship have died since it set sail from Argentina on April 1 for a cruise across the Atlantic Ocean.
Two more passengers, including one showing symptoms have been sent to a biocontainment unit at Emory University in Atlanta.
Dr. Stephen Kornfeld, a passenger from the MV Hondius cruise ship who had tested “faintly positive” for hantavirus, has now tested negative and been moved out of a Nebraska biocontainment unit.
