EU found no evidence of arms shipments from China to Russia

European diplomacy chief Josep Borrell said that the European Union has no evidence of arms supplies from China to Russia.

During his speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue forum in Singapore, Josep Borrell said: “There is no clear boundary between weapons and [what is not] weapons because there are things that can have a dual purpose.

Borrell added that Russian military equipment uses parts manufactured in Western countries, including the US, Europe, and the UK, emphasizing: “The problem is not only China’s.”

US authorities have repeatedly accused China of providing military aid to Russia. On May 15, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned Chinese companies against supporting the Russian defense industry and warned of possible new sanctions against Beijing.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in early April threatened Chinese banks with “serious consequences” for violating anti-Russian sanctions. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller expressed the White House’s “incredible concern” over the continued supply of military products from China to Russia.
