Vladimir Putin is trying to create a parallel platform to the Global Peace Summit, in which at least 90 countries are expected to participate.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during a joint press conference in Brussels with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo.
Zelenskyy argues that if world leaders want peace, they should join the Global Summit to be held in Switzerland.
“I believe that if you want peace – you will be there and you will speak. Even if you don’t agree with something, you come to the summit. And if you want war, you will come to the gathering that Russia wants to organize. Just so you know, Putin is very afraid of the Peace Summit. He thought that 90 countries would not support us. He disrupted that summit and continues to do so. And that’s why he’s now thinking of organizing some kind of parallel platform. And some leaders have not yet spoken out,” he said.
The Ukrainian president claims that some leaders may still support the Russian Federation. “This means that they support the current war because Putin started it. And if the leaders are silent, it’s even worse. It’s even worse. I believe you’re either in favor of peace or you’re in favor of war. And it’s better to know you’re the enemy than to be apathetic. If you are silent, it means that you are satisfied with what is happening,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
