Over 630 attempts to illegally cross the state border were recorded over the weekend. 11 “carriers” of illegals were detained.
Last weekend was very busy on the Polish-Belarusian border. The Polish Border Guard Service reported about the detention of carriers who help illegal migrants, after their illegal crossing of the Polish-Belarusian border, to get deep into Western Europe.
A total of 11 transporters of illegal migrants were detained. Of them: 6 citizens of Ukraine, 2 citizens of Turkmenistan and 3 citizens of Belarus.
Administrative proceedings were initiated against all accomplices. Smugglers will be deported from the country and banned from entering the Schengen zone for a period of 5 to 10 years.
The Border Guard Service also stated that over 630 attempts to illegally cross the state border were recorded over the weekend. On Friday, there were 160 attempts to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border. On Saturday – more than 280, and on Sunday – 190.
In total, according to the border guards, 176 accomplices and organizers of illegal border crossing were detained on the Polish-Belarusian border this year.
There were also two incidents when Polish patrols were shot with slingshots and pelted with stones. Two vehicles were damaged. No one was injured, the border agency said.
