Russia is preparing sabotage across Europe

European intelligence agencies are increasingly voicing the threat.

Intelligence agencies have warned their governments that Russia is planning sabotage. They point out that Russia has already begun preparing covert bombings, arson, and infrastructure damage, both directly and through frontmen.

According to assessments by agencies in three European countries, there is emerging evidence of preparations for a more aggressive and coordinated sabotage effort.

“We assess the risk of state-controlled sabotage as significantly increased,” said Thomas Haldenwang, head of Germany’s Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

A senior European official said Russia now feels comfortable conducting operations on European soil “with a high potential for harm.” Through NATO’s security services, information is being passed on about “clear and convincing Russian intrigues” that are coordinated and large-scale.

He emphasized that it is worth “raising awareness and focusing” on the Russian threat in Europe.
