The White House is convinced that the US aid helps Ukraine to go on a counteroffensive.
During his speech in Washington, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that he expects “Russian successes soon” despite the new funding package. Sullivan emphasized that “you can’t flick a switch instantly.”
He stated that Ukraine will hold its defenses through 2024 with the new aid. Sullivan said that next year Kyiv intends to “move forward to regain territory taken away by the Russians.”

The publication points out that Kyiv’s counteroffensive will depend on increased funding from Congress and approval from the White House.
