It will include Patriot air defense systems.
This was reported by Politico with reference to sources. It is reported that the package may be announced as early as Friday, April 26. The aid package will include Patriot air defense systems, artillery ammunition, UAVs, drone countermeasures and air-to-air missiles that will be installed on fighter jets, including F-16s, which are also awaiting arrival in Ukraine.
It also became known that Madrid is preparing a new arms package for June 30, which includes the transfer of 10 Leopard 2 A4 battle tanks, as well as a batch of missiles for Patriot systems. This was reported by the newspaper El Pais the day before.
Earlier, the mass media reported that Western capitals were pressing Spain and Greece to hand over their Patriot systems to Ukraine.
According to El Pais, Spain has refused to supply Ukraine with its air defense systems, claiming that they are the only effective defense in case of a missile attack.
Greece has also said that it refuses to supply its Patriot and S-300 air defense systems, Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis said in an interview with Iefimerida.
According to him, although Greece supported Ukraine with defense materials, it cannot give away air defense systems that are crucial for the protection of its own airspace.
