Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that after NATO countries’ nuclear weapons are placed on Polish territory, “they will become a legitimate target.”
“All those politicians who are now, for their reasons, enthusiastically discussing such a scheme in Poland and beyond, should understand: shifts in this direction will not add to Poland’s security, but the facilities in question will become a target. And they will be at the forefront of our military planning,” the deputy minister said.
He stressed that the expansion of NATO’s nuclear mission is of a “destabilizing and threatening” nature. The approach of the Alliance’s nuclear weapons to Russia’s borders, he said, exacerbates the threat.
Earlier, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that he was ready to deploy nuclear weapons on the country’s territory. He discussed this topic during his visit to Washington. Duda explained the need for such a measure by the “militarization” of the Kaliningrad Region and the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus.
