Latvia will provide Ukraine with €1 million worth of UAVs and €10 million in financial assistance for the purchase of shells.
Latvia is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine; it includes the transfer of the first drones as part of a “drone coalition” as well as a financial contribution to a Czech initiative to buy ammunition for Ukraine.
Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa stated this at a news conference with her Ukrainian counterpart Denys Shmyhal.
“Very soon we plan to send the first drones with a total value of €1 million. The drones have already been checked, and our colleagues have recognized them as meeting all the requirements,” the prime minister said.
Evika also said that Latvia will contribute €10 million to the Czech ammunition procurement initiative.
“Already this month, the next military aid package is expected, in particular, it includes logistics, ammunition, and weapons that we have,” she said.
Earlier it was reported that Latvia will conclude a long-term support and security agreement with Ukraine, under which it commits to provide military aid amounting to 0.25 percent of GDP this year and over the next two years.
